Altair India Announces the Next Round of the 2012 Altair Optimization Contest (AOC) for Students

In March 2012, Altair India announced the first edition of the Students Optimization Contest.This program is meant for students (UG/PG/PHD) of Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering and Production Engineering.

We are pleased to announce the addition of an industry partner – Ashok Leyland, on this program.

Ashok Leyland (www.ashokleyland.com) is a leading Automotive OEM, supplying to global markets. Ashok Leyland R&D has been one of the earliest adopters of CAE & optimization technologies. They are also one of Altair’s largest customers in India for HyperWorks.

The objective of the contest will be for students to offer solutions to a combination of
• Defined Optimisation  contest problems using Altair’s industry leading optimisation solution “OptiStruct”
• Their own defined problems analysed/optimised using Altair’s HyperWorks

All completed entries will be judged* by Panel of CAE experts from Ashok Leyland and Altair India.
• 1st Prize – Tablet PC – 1 award + Certificate of Recognition
• 2nd Prize – Mp3 Player – 2  awards + Certification of Recognition
• All complete submissions will get a Certificate of Participation

About the Workshop :
 
This workshop aims to bring the theory, testing, design and analy¬sis aspects of  Electromagnetic interference threats to Electronic system and equipment.
 
In todays high density electric system and devices, the goal of Electromagnetic compatibility is of paramount importance this course covers every basics of EMI-EMC, EMI source, EMI-EMC standards, EMI-EMC control techniques, measurements and prov¬ing the designs as EMC solutions.
 
We plan to cover EMI-EMC Evaluation at CARD & System level for Auto, Aero, Naval, Defense, Electronic Components and consumer electronics with various case study. However the theoretical part will be common for all domains.

Key Note Speaker Profile
 
Dr. Srinivasan Sathyamurthy
Born on 25th June 1949, Mr. S. Sathyamurthy is an AMIE in Electronics and Telecom. Engg (1976) and holds an ME first class [Distinction] in Communication Systems from College of Engg., Guindy (1989), Chennai.
 
He joined DRDO as Scientist ‘B’ in Nov’1977 after serving for four years as Tech Asst. in Vikram Satellite Earth Sta-tion, Arvi. At CVRDE, he was instrumental for establishing a state of art EMI-EMC test facility (1989) and system engineering of Communication facilities. Contributed for the success of MBT Arjun Electronics and Communication. Developed an innovative Telemetry system under his directions to monitor the functional parameters of Tanks. As Project Director, completed a Study project viz. Inte¬grated Future Combat Systems and Configured a Tracked Command post vehicle leading to successful field trials by Army and User approval for production by M/s. BEL. Es-tablished a Research Division at CVRDE to develop un¬manned  tele-operated vehicles for the Robotics program.
 
He is life member of SEMCE(I), ASCI and  IEEE Member. He has published 80 papers in national/ International Conferences and Journals. Recipient of NV Gadhadhar Memorial Gold medal Award (2003) from IETE (India), for his contributions to mobile Radio Communications and DRDO Performance Excellence Award, for his contribu¬tions to Reliability Trials of MBT Arjun (2008) and SEMCE(I)Commendation certificate (2008) .
 
 He is the sole author of the books “Basics of EMC”,` Ele¬ments of Robotic Systems’  and co-author of the book “Optical Communication”. His areas of interest are Anten¬nas, EMP, Millimetric waves and Fibre optics Technology.
He did his PhD(2011) from Sathyabama University ,  in Mutual interference effects of multi radio set  mobile communication system in a Combat Vehicle.
